Whiskey Sour is a concoction of whiskey and lemon that has been around since the 1870s. Sours are a traditional family of mixed drinks and belong to one of the old families of original cocktails. They usually contain a base liquor, lemon or lime juice, and a sweetener. The Whiskey Sour falls into this category.
Most of you have probably enjoyed a Whiskey Sour at some point so this is more of a reminder of what a perfect refreshing drink for the summer it is. We recently had friends in for dinner and served them. They LOVED them. Here is how we make them for 2 people.
Wet the edge of an old-fashioned glass with water, dip in sugar and pop in the freezer while you make the cocktail. Into a cocktail shaker with ice, add 2/3 cup of Crown Royal, ¼ cup lime juice, ¼ cup lemon juice and 1/3 cup simple syrup. Shake for 30 seconds. Strain into the prepared glass with ice and garnish with a stemmed cherry.
And that is it! I hope this is a helpful reminder of how scrumptious Whiskey Sours are. Cheers!
Has become one of my favorite cocktails, no matter what season of the year!
